The Nashville Predators are absolutely rolling, and it's manifesting in some incredible hockey! Leading the way for the Preds is Filip Forsberg who had a good night netting two goals, one of which is one of the nicest I've seen all year. Though the Avs showed a lot of fight taking an early lead they where soon out gunned by the Preds and Forsberg's jaw dropping play to take the lead 4-2. Game 2 Recap
In what would be a decent hockey game if it wasn't marred by too many penalties, The Nashville Predators special teams contributed a power play and 2, 4 on 4 goals in a tightly contested contest. The Avalanche got ahead early with a first goal of the game but soon found themselves down from a slew of penalties and special teams play. The Avs played well 5 on 5, but it wasn't enough to catch the Predators who take a 2-0 series lead.Final Score: Nashville Predators 5, Colorado Avalanche 4, Nashville Predators Lead Series (2-0)
Game 3 Recap
Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche got off to a fast start with a 3 goal first period, with goals coming from McKinnon, Blake Comeau and Gabriel Bourque. To add salt to the wound McKinnon would score again and this time Avs Coach Jared Bednar would bench Pekka Rinne for the rest of the game. Add an empty netter from Gabriel Landeskog and The Avalanche skated their way to an easy 5-3 Victory over the Nashville Predators. Game 4 Recap
The Nashville Predators and Vezina Trophy finalist Pekka Rinne managed to hold on and secure a victory in game 4. Nashville found themselves up 3-0 thanks to goals from Filip Forsberg, Colton Sissons and Craig Smith. Colorado fought back however with late goals from Alexander Kerfoot and Gabriel Landeskog, but Rinne and Smashvilles defence were able to hold off the surging Avs to take home the win. With game 5 back in Nashville the Preds will try to clinch the series on home ice against what has been a tough hard fought series against the Avalanche. The Colorado Avalanche aren't done just yet, Andrew Hammond gave a monstrous performance making 44 saves in a hard fought 2 to 1 victory over the Predators. This brings the Avs right back into the series, but it's going to be a hard fought one as Pekka Rinne has been rock solid in net as well. Despite the advantages of speed and youth the Colorado Avalanche had no answer for the onslaught that was the Nashville Predators. The Predators slammed the door shut on the Avs playoff hopes with a 5-0 shut out and It's on to the second round to face the Winnipeg Jets. It's Smashville Vs. The White Out of Winnipeg and it could be the most competitive series of this entire playoffs. So get excited this is going to be a party that would make even Vegas blush.
