Columbus Blue Jackets vs Washington Capitals
Can the surging Columbus Blue jackets keep enough goals rolling in to overwhelm the likes of Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov and the rest of the Washington Capitals? I don't know, but Columbus has been the hottest scoring team in the NHL over this past month. Add a suspect goalie and the high octane offence of the Captials may have their hands full with the Blue Jackets!
Game 1 Recap
It was a crazy start to the series as the Columbus Blue Jackets found themselves down a Captain, and two other forwards, despite these set backs the Blue Jackets still somehow found a way to win in O.T. to clinch a 1 game advantage in the series over the Caps. Artemi Panarin scored the game winner 6:02 into overtime, and for a team that has fought back from it's fair share of injuries and set backs, the win was a much needed one. The Jackets are going to have to play better Hockey if they hope to stop this Capitals squad, Washington looked very solid throughout the game, however after blowing a 2-0 lead thanks to a couple of power play goals. With that said don't be surprised if there is a change in net heading into game 2 as Braden Holtby would like a chance to prove he is the number 1 guy for the Capitals come playoffs. Final Score: Columbus Blue Jackets 4, Washington Capitals 3
Game 2 Recap
The Columbus Blue Jackets and the Washington Capitals battled into overtime for the second time in 2 games this series, but this time it would be Matt Calvert who would win the day for the Blue Jackets. With the Capitals down 2-0 in the series, Washington has to find away not to pop to0 early as this is the second time this series that we have seen them blow a 2-0 lead against the Blue Jackets. If Washington can't decide they need to play a full 60 minutes and then some the Jackets may pull off a huge first round upset Final Score: Columbus Blue Jackets 5, Washington Capitals 4
Game 3 Recap
Well The Washington Capitals showed up to play 60 minutes and then some. It took till double overtime but the Caps finally got a win against the Blue Jackets. Despite blowing another lead the Washington Capitals perservered and finally landed that late goal that eluded them the past two game of the series. It wasn't pretty and it took till double overtime but Braden Holtby And Lars Ellers crashed to the net hard and brought the Capitals back from the dead in this series with an ugly one, But that's just Playoff Hockey! Final Score: Columbus Blue Jackets 2, Washington Capitals 3
Game 4 Recap
Well The Washington Capitals showed up to play. Unfortunately the Blue Jackets didn't, to quote John Tortorella, " We weren't good, There's no sense of asking me things about the game", "We laid an egg", "we sucked!". But that's something we all expect in the playoffs, sometimes you just have to take it one game at a time, and some times you lay an egg. Iy will be interesting to see if the Blue Jackets can figure out what went wrong, and correct for game 5. Final Score: Columbus Blue Jackets 2, Washington Capitals 3, Series Tied (2,2)
