Game 1 Recap

It was the first game of the 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs and the 2 time defending Stanley Cup Champions looked to be all of it. With Sydney Crosby leading the way with a game 1 hat trick to open the Stanley cup playoffs. The Penguins didn't stop there, they rolled on to combine for 4 more goals and a 7-0 tally in an absolute drubbing of the Flyers.

Philli goaltender Brian Elliot looked completely in over his head by the end of a 3 goal first period, things didn't get any better for the Flyers as the Penguins would go on to score 2 more in both the second and third periods. The Flyers better get some things figured out on defence, lest they want to see a repeat performance from Elliot, who is  still expected to get the start for game two Friday night.

Game 2 Recap

It was some much needed revenge for the Philadelphia Flyers who rebounded from there 7-0 lose in game 1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Flyers rebounded with some much needed scoring from 5 different players en route to a 5-1 rebound in the series. Brian Elliot looked much better allowing only 1 goal in 34 shots from the Pens. With the Flyers now awoken and the Pens now having to deal with egg on their faces expect a much better played series from both teams as we move forward towards game three in Philadelphia. Final Score: Philadelphia Flyers 5, Pittsburgh Penguins 1

Game 3 Recap

Sydney Crosby lead the charge for the Penguins netting 1 goal and 3 helpers en route to another drubbing of the Philadelphia Flyers. Pittsburgh goaltender Matt Murray was solid in net allowing only 1 goal in 27 shots. With scoring coming from all over the line up with Derick Brassard, Evgeni Malkin and Brian Dumoulin, all scoring in the third, as the Pittsburgh Penguins coasted their way to an easy 5-1 finish. With game 4 this Wednesday in Philadelphia expect it to be a loud and boistrous crowd as the Philadelphia fans pull out all the stops to make the Pittsburgh Penguins as uncomfortable as only Philli can.  Final Score: Pittsburgh Penguins 5, Philadelphia Flyers 1, Pittsburgh Penguins lead the Series (2-1)

Game 4 Recap

Sydney Crosby lead the charge once again the Penguins netting 1 goal and 2 helpers en route to another drubbing of the Philadelphia Flyers. It pains me to do that, repeat myself like that. But there was nothing different from game 3, Oh except that Philli played such uninspired hockey this time around they couldn't even score a goal. Matt Murray only faced 26 shots this time around instead of 27. Perhaps a 27th shot could have hypothetically scored for identical stats to game 3, but who cares at this point. Philli stunk, and things aren't going to get any easier heading back to Pittsburgh! But that's the playoffs, and Philadelphia has rebound well from embaressment before, so lets hope this club can do it 1 more time.  Final Score: Pittsburgh Penguins 5, Philadelphia Flyers 0, Pittsburgh Penguins lead the Series (3-1)

Game 5 Recap

A refocused and determined Philadelphia Flyers team finally showed up, after a few abysmal performances in the series by the Flyers whole team seemed to rally around the play of Sean Couturier. Coutourier who due to injury only got about 17 minutes of ice time. But that didn't stop a banged up Couturier (Knee) from netting what would be the game winning goal with only 75 seconds to go. Claude Giroux finally showed up and netted his first of the series at well, to start off the scoring in a much better performance by the Flyers.Final Score: Pittsburgh Penguins 2, Philadelphia Flyers 4, Pittsburgh Penguins lead the Series (3-2)

Game 6 Recap

Jake Guentzel scored four straight goals as the Pittsburgh Penguins went on to defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 8-5. The defending back to back Stanley Cup champs where simply too much for the Flyers, who despite a valiant effort couldn't over come their own inconsistancies to give them a fighting chance in this series. So it's off to the second round for the Penguins and a date with either the Blue Jackets or Capitals, in either case expect to see the Penguins moving on to the third round .Final Score: Pittsburgh Penguins 8, Philadelphia Flyers 5, Pittsburgh Penguins WIN the Series (4-2)
